If you want to polish up your transcription, check this out:
A native speaker of American English reading out sequences of words with a focus on one particular sound of GA. Very useful if you still have difficulties in "hearing" the difference between some sounds of GA:

(Remember to ignore the vowel length.)
A bunch of exercises on various aspects of transcription. I highly recommend the exercises on -ed and -es endings:

My dear Phonetics Students,
I realize that now when the Christmas spirit is booming the last thing you want to think about is a transcription assignment. (I do fell the same, trust me ;-). Despite the fact, I need to do my part and give you the necessary information so you can get your homework done.
All you need to do (that is, beside reading dr Banski's article...) is listen to the song "My friends" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers and transcribe the lyrics. Here's the clip:...
...and below you'll find the lyrics:
My friends are so depressed / I feel the question of your loneliness / Confide...'cause I'll be on your side / You know I will, you know I will
Ex-girlfriend called me up / Alone and desperate on the prison phone / They want to give her seven years / For being sad
I love all of you / Hurt by the cold / So hard and lonely too / When you don't know yourself
My friends are so distressed / And standing on the brink of emptiness / No words I know of to express / This emptiness
I love all of you / Hurt by the cold / So hard and lonely too / When you don't know yourself
Imagine me, taught by tragedy / Release is peace
I heard a little girl / And what she said was something beautiful / To give your love no matter what / Is what she said
I love all of you / Hurt by the cold / So hard and lonely too / When you don't know yourself
ENJOY THE SONG AND THE WINTER BREAK. See you soon :-D

Hello all :-)
For the sake of my phonetics students, I decided to reactivate my blog. Tonight I hope to find a moment to add some materials you might find useful and interesting.
